Rules

This page will walk you through the process of creating rules for nodes and APIs.

To create a new rule, go to the BlockWatch > Monitor page and click the Create Rule button located on the Rules tab. Currently, we can monitor two different Resource Types as Node and API.

1 Create Rules for API

To create a new API rule, simply enter a preferred name for your rule and select the resource type as API. In the case of API rules, you can set triggers specifically for API Usage. This enables you to receive an alarm when the API usage surpasses the defined threshold.

After reviewing your rule settings, click on the Confirm button to finalize the process. Once confirmed, the newly created rule for API will be displayed on the Rules page.

2 Create Rules for Node

To begin creating new rules for nodes, first click the Create Rule button on the Rules page.

Next, enter a preferred name for your new rule, select the resource type as node, and proceed to selecting the node trigger.

2.1 Rule Triggers

In any rule for Node, you can set triggers for both Node Status and Resource Utilization.

You have to set at least one trigger for a valid rule.

You can choose from the following status trigger types:

  • Node Status Triggers

This trigger type will activate an alarm when the nodes undergo any of the selected statuses. You have the flexibility to monitor either all status changes for a node or choose specific status changes based on your requirements.

  • Resource Utilization Triggers

You can configure this type of rule to trigger an alarm when the utilization of the selected resources exceeds a specified threshold. You have the option to monitor the utilization of all resources or only some specific ones.

Choose the options according to your preferences, then review your rule settings. Finally, click on the Confirm button to complete the process. The newly created rule for Node will be shown on the Rules page.
